This glossary lists terms used throughout the Plans platform.

Platform terms

B-Factor (Exposure Factor) Value from 0.0 to 1.0 (in increments of 0.1) assigned to building elements.

Building element

Wall, Floor, Ceiling, Door, Window, Hatch, or Opening.

Element Type

Classification assigned to building elements: Wall, Floor, Ceiling, Door, Window, Hatch, or Opening.

Heating Source Type Classification of how a room is heated: Unheated, Radiators, Underfloor heating, or Radiators and underfloor heating.

Layer

Component within a building element assembly.

Note Location-based annotation in Plans.

Note Category Classification of notes: Condition, Building element, Material, Electrical, Technical Installation, Other, Project, or Orientation.

Scan 3D capture of a room or space using the iOS app.

Room Type Classification assigned to rooms: Living Room, Bedroom, Kitchen, Bathroom, Toilet, Office, Hallway, Garage, Room, or Unheated Room.

Severity Level Classification for condition notes: Critical, Serious, Less serious, or Possible.

Story

Level or floor of a building.

Story Type Classification of building levels: Basement, Ground floor, First floor, Second floor, Third floor, Fourth floor, Attic.

U-Value (Thermal Transmittance) Value assigned to building elements. Units: W/m²K (metric) or BTU/hr·ft²·°F (imperial).

Temperature

  • °C - Degrees Celsius
  • °F - Degrees Fahrenheit
  • K - Kelvin

Length

  • mm - Millimeter

Area

Volume

Thermal resistance (r-value)
