Building Element Types Reference
Section titled “Building Element Types Reference”This reference lists all building element types available in Plans.
Element type structure
Section titled “Element type structure”Plans organizes building elements into primary types and child types:
Primary types
Section titled “Primary types”- Wall
- Floor
- Ceiling
Children types
Section titled “Children types”- Door
- Window
- Hatch
- Opening
Available element types
Section titled “Available element types”Primary Types:
- Wall
- Floor
- Ceiling
Child Types:
- Door

Element type hierarchy

Children Types (can be associated with any primary type):├── Door├── Window├── Hatch└── OpeningAssigning element types
Section titled “Assigning element types”In iOS App
Section titled “In iOS App”Element types are assigned during note capture:
- Open a project and navigate to a story
- Tap Notes section
- Tap + to create a new note
- Select Building Element category
- Choose element type from list
- Complete note with photo and details
- Changes sync to web platform on next upload
In web platform
Section titled “In web platform”Element types can be changed in the properties panel:
- Select an element in the 3D viewer
- Properties panel opens on the right
- Locate Element Type dropdown
- Select new type from available options
- Changes save automatically when you click outside the field
Important Constraints:
- You can only change between types within the same category
- Primary types (Wall, Floor, Ceiling) can be changed to other primary types
- Children types (Door, Window, Hatch, Opening) can be changed to other children types
- You cannot change a Wall into a Door, or a Window into a Floor
- Changing element type clears the assigned material (you must reassign)
Filtering by element type
Section titled “Filtering by element type”In the web platform, you can filter the element list by type:
- Open the Filter List panel (left side of editor)
- Use the type filter to show only specific element types
- View all elements of a certain type across your project
