3D scanning automatically identifies:

  • Walls - Room boundaries
  • Floor - Bottom surface
  • Ceiling - Top surface (or use separate ceiling scan)
  • Doors - Entry points with frames
  • Windows - Window openings
  • Openings - Archways and pass-throughs

The completed scan displays a summary of detected doors and windows.

Scan won’t start:

  • Verify device has LiDAR sensor
  • Check camera permissions in Settings
  • Restart the app

“Relocalizing” appears:

  • Move back to a previously scanned area
  • Point at furniture or features the camera has already seen
  • Wait for status to return to “Ready to scan…”

“Move a bit slower” warning:

  • Reduce walking speed
  • Hold device steadier

“Check that the device camera isn’t covered” message:

  • Point device at walls with texture, furniture, or features
  • Avoid blank walls or mirrors
  • Improve room lighting

Missing doors or windows:

  • Ensure doors and windows are closed
  • Move more slowly past openings

Scanning won’t work at all:

  • Close and restart the app
  • Restart your device
  • Check your device has a LiDAR sensor (iPhone 12 Pro or newer, iPad Pro 2020 or newer)

If you’re interrupted mid-scan:

  • Tap the red button to stop the current scan
  • You can save what you have, or Retry the room later
  • Previously saved rooms are not affected

If your battery is running low:

  • Save your current scan before continuing
  • Each saved room is preserved even if the device switches off
  • An unsaved scan in progress may be lost if the battery dies

In dark rooms or basements:

  • Turn on all available lights
  • Open doors to adjacent lit areas
  • Scanning won’t work in complete darkness – the camera needs light to track position

In rooms with bright windows:

  • Close curtains or blinds if possible
  • Start scanning from the window side, facing into the room

In very small rooms (bathrooms, WCs):

  • Move slowly and methodically
  • You may not need to walk around – rotating in place can work
