Material Proposals
Section titled “Material Proposals”Material proposals provide standardized material assemblies with detailed layer configurations that can be applied to building elements in the Export pane.
What are material proposals?
Section titled “What are material proposals?”Definition
Section titled “Definition”Material proposals are predefined material assemblies that specify complete construction details including layers, materials, and thermal properties.
Key Features:
- Proposal-based material assemblies
- Detailed layer configurations showing construction makeup
- Thermal performance properties
- Applied via Export pane tables
Purpose:
- Apply standardized construction types to elements
- View detailed layer configurations
- Ensure consistent material assemblies
How proposals work
Section titled “How proposals work”Assignment Process:
- Navigate to Export tab in the Details Panel
- In the Walls/Floors/Ceilings or Doors/Windows tables, expand a row grouped by material
- Available Proposals appear below the material information
- Select a Proposal to assign it to all elements in that group
- Proposal details show construction layers and thermal properties
Viewing proposals in export pane
Section titled “Viewing proposals in export pane”Location
Section titled “Location”Proposals appear in the Export tab of the Details Panel.

- Walls, Floors, and Ceilings table
- Doors and Windows table
Access:
- Open Details Panel (right sidebar)
- Click Export tab
- Scroll to building elements tables
- Click to expand a Material row
Proposal information
Section titled “Proposal information”When Proposals are available for a material, you’ll see:
Proposal Cards:
- Name
- Description of the construction type
- Thermal property badges (U-value, etc.)
- View layers link to view detailed construction
Layer Details:
- Each layer in the construction assembly
- Material composition
- Thickness and thermal properties
Assigning proposals
Section titled “Assigning proposals”Via export tables
Section titled “Via export tables”- Navigate to the Export tab in Details Panel
- Find the element group in either:
- Walls, Floors, and Ceilings table
- Doors and Windows table
- Click to expand the Material row
- Review available Proposal options
- Select a Proposal card to assign it
- The Proposal is applied to all elements in that Material group
Proposal selection
Section titled “Proposal selection”When a Proposal is assigned:
- The row background becomes light green
- Name displays at the top
- Description shows
- Thermal property badges display
- View layers link becomes available
- Edit and Remove buttons appear
Removing proposals
Section titled “Removing proposals”To remove an assigned Proposal:
- Locate the row with the assigned Proposal (green background)
- Click the Remove button
- The Proposal is removed from all elements in that group
- Elements revert to their base Material properties
Viewing layer details
Section titled “Viewing layer details”Layer information
Section titled “Layer information”Click View layers to view the complete construction assembly:
Layer Dialog Shows:
- Each layer in order (from exterior to interior)
- Layer Material type
- Thickness
- Thermal properties
- Complete assembly composition
This helps you understand exactly what construction the Proposal represents.
Proposal badges
Section titled “Proposal badges”Proposals display thermal performance information via badges:
Common Badges:
- U-value: Thermal transmittance of the assembly
- Additional properties: May include other thermal characteristics
These badges help you compare Proposals and understand their thermal performance.
Working with proposals
Section titled “Working with proposals”When to use proposals
Section titled “When to use proposals”Use construction Proposals when:
- You want to apply standardized construction types
- You need detailed layer configurations
- You want to ensure consistent assemblies across similar elements
Proposals vs. basic materials
Section titled “Proposals vs. basic materials”Basic Material Assignment (via Details Panel):
- Assigns a Material reference to individual elements
- Quick selection for single elements
- Material properties only
Construction Proposals (via Export Pane):
- Applies to all elements in a Material group
- Includes detailed layer configurations
- Shows complete construction assembly
- Available in Export pane tables only
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”No Proposals showing
- Proposals are fetched from the backend based on the assigned Material
- Not all materials have Proposals available
- Check that the Material is properly assigned
- Message will show No proposals available if none exist for that Material
Can’t assign Proposal
- Ensure the Material row is expanded
- Verify you’re in the Export tab
- Check that elements have the base Material assigned
- Try refreshing the page
Proposal assignment not saving
- Check internet connection
- Ensure you have edit permissions
- Try refreshing and assigning again
Can’t see layer details
- Only assigned Proposals show the View layers link
- Click the link in the green highlighted row
- If dialog doesn’t open, try refreshing the page
Proposal shows warning
- Some Proposals may display warnings about compatibility
- Review the warning message
- Proposal can still be applied in most cases
