Energy Certification Export

Export your project data as an XML file for use with the service you use to submit your completed Energy Performance Certificate. The export is accessed through the Export tab in the right panel.

  1. Open your project in the web platform
  2. Click the Export tab in the right panel (second tab)
  3. Review any validation warnings shown
  4. Click the Export button (top-right corner) when all validations pass

The Export button remains disabled until all validation requirements are met.

The export includes the following data tables from the Export tab:

Area calculations organized by story, zone type, and total building area.

Summary of measured areas from the 3D model including Floors, Walls, roof, foundation, Windows, and Doors.

Doors/Windows by orientation

Section titled “/ by orientation”

Doors and Windows grouped by cardinal direction (North, South, East, West) with area and property values.

Walls/Floors/Ceilings by story

Section titled “// by story”

Building elements organized by story level showing areas, properties, and material assignments.

Linear measurements grouped by type with associated property values.

Before the export can be generated, all data must pass validation checks.

The Export tab shows validation status for each data section:

  • Red indicator – Critical error that must be fixed before export
  • Yellow indicator – Warning that should be addressed
  • Green checkmark – Validation passed

Hover over indicators to see specific error messages.

Missing Material Assignments: Building elements without assigned materials or missing property values.

Geometric Issues: Elements with invalid dimensions, missing story assignments, or overlapping components.

Data Missing: Required property values not specified or calculations incomplete.

  1. Hover over red/yellow indicators to see specific error messages
  2. Click on the validation tooltip to navigate to the problem area
  3. Add missing materials, fix dimensions, or complete required properties
  4. Verify the tooltip updates to show green checkmark
  5. Continue until all validations pass

The Export button becomes enabled once all critical validations are resolved.

Once validation is complete:

  1. Click the Export button in the top-right corner
  2. Wait while the system generates the XML file
  3. The file downloads automatically when processing completes

The export generates an XML file for energy certification containing:

  • Building geometry and area data
  • Material properties and assignments
  • Area calculations by orientation and story
  • Linear measurements and associated values

File naming convention: [ProjectName]_Export_[Date].xml

To successfully generate an energy certification export, ensure your project includes:

  • Complete 3D building model
  • All exterior Walls, Floors, and roof defined
  • Windows and Doors with dimensions
  • Story heights and Floor levels
  • Material assignments for all building elements
  • Calculated property values for all materials
  • Complete material specifications

If validation errors still exist:

  1. Review all tables in the Export tab
  2. Look for red or yellow validation indicators
  3. Fix all critical errors (red indicators)
  4. Address warnings (yellow indicators) if they prevent export
  5. Verify all required data is complete

If the exported file is missing expected data:

  1. Review the data tables in the Export tab
  2. Verify all building elements are included
  3. Check that materials are assigned throughout
  4. Ensure all required measurements are documented
  5. Complete any missing story or orientation data
  6. Regenerate the export file

Building geometry and materials are captured in the iOS app and reviewed in the web platform. All required data must be complete before export. Validation runs automatically when you open the Export tab.
